STEP 1
Depending on the design, either an open or closed incision is used

STEP 2

Space is secured right above the nasal bone to insert the silicone implant. Cartilage is used to modify the tip of the nose.

STEP 3
Rhinoplasty is completed and incision is sutured after checking if the new design of the nose looks good together with the rest of your face (forehead, jaw).

When would the doctor only use cartilage and not any silicone implants?
- Cases where it is difficult to use implants
- Cases where patients do not want to get any silicone implants and prefer the usage of cartilage only.

Both cartilage and dermofat can be used

(surgery is performed by selecting the material most suitable for the patient’s nose condition)

Cartilage: ear cartilage, septal cartilage, rib cartilage

Dermofat: autologous dermal harvesting.

Nose bridge material

If sufficient results cannot be achieved by repositioning the nasal tip cartilage only, the doctor will use cartilage

(if the skin is very thin, the doctor uses dermofat or fascia)

Silicone

Silicone stands as the predominant implant material in rhinoplasty, renowned for its long-term safety profile within the human body. Its widespread use is attributed to its minimal allergenicity and its malleability, allowing for precise shaping to suit individual preferences. Notably, our surgeons predominantly employ high-soft silicone, notably Bistool silicone, prized for its tactile softness akin to Gore-Tex and its non-translucent properties.

Utilization of Autologous Tissue as Implants

In our practice, we prioritize the use of soft autologous tissue over silicone implants for nasal tip augmentation.

Primarily, we rely on autologous tissue sources such as ear cartilage and septal cartilage. Additional options include utilizing other autologous tissues like skin, fat, and temporal fascia to achieve a remarkably natural contour.

In cases where patient-specific cartilage is unavailable, donated costal (rib) cartilage is utilized. This approach ensures compatibility with your body's own tissues, thereby enhancing safety and minimizing the risk of rejection.
